Please note: This is a guide and you must always refer to manufacturer fixing instructions before installing a Flexitec 2020 fibreglass roof.

The following installation guide refers to flat roofs with a parapet wall, drip edge and two raised edges. This roof type is commonplace on garage roofs throughout the United Kingdom. Before installing, please ensure all trims are cut to suit the roof dimensions.

Flexitec 2020 Installation Guide

Step 1: Make sure the surface is fit for purpose. Below, we have bullet-pointed common compromised facets which should be investigated before installation.
•    The felt you are overlaying is not fully adhering to the board.
•    Rot or surface fractures.
•    Trapped moisture (we advise levels to be lower than 20%).

Step 2: Remove any pre-existing perimeter trims, allowing us to lay new trims in its place.
Step 3: Install perimeter battens around the roof's edges. The battening will reinforce the pre-formed trims & give us a solid bonding agent for the roof trims to be installed.
Step 4: Run the flexible adhesive across the battening. Stick the drip-trim into the pre-formed drip-edge and press on the face of the batten to ensure an adequote bond. Attach the trim to the decking by fixing clout nails at 100 - 150mm spacings.
Step 5: Position the larger flatted area against the abutment wall (creating the 150mm upstand). Fix the Restec wall-trim to the decking using 100 – 150mm spacings (if you are joining two wall fillets, please use a minimum of 50mm overlap with a flexible adhesive).
Step 6: For the raised edge, mitre the connective trims by marking and cutting with snips, apply the flexible adhesive across the battening & press the raised-edge trim in place. Nail the raised edge using 100 – 150mm spacings.
Step 7: Mix the Flexitec primer until it is continuously white. Decant primer into Restec mixing bucket & add the powder referring to the powder hardener addition chart on the bucket (To get an accurate decking temperature reading, you can use the temperature reader). Mix together for around 60 seconds.
Step 8: Apply primer using a phenolic roller, ensuring the felt is turned entirely white & wait for 40 – 60 mins to take off and fully cure (touch dry).
Step 9: Close off open corners using masking tape.
Step 10: Time to prepare the matting and reinforcement tape. Measure & cut out the Flexitec chopped strand matting making sure to overlap edges by 50mm. Mark out and tear the 75mm reinforcement tape. Allow for two layers of reinforcement tape at joints or corners (offcut of main body chopped strand matt for front corners). Leave both to one side for installation later.
Step 11: Remove the lid of the resin and mix for around 60 seconds. Decant the resin into a bucket & add hardener (refer to the bucket hardener addition chart). Once added, mix thoroughly.
Step 12: Sea the trims corners, joints & connections using reinforcement tape. Before applying reinforcement tape, thoroughly saturate the matting by applying the resin on both the underneath & top of the reinforcement tape. Now, cover the connections, joints & corners. Using the phenolic roller repeatedly roll over the matted corners/connections breaking down the fibres until a swirly effect manifests.
Step 13: Pour the Flexitec Resin over 1 square metre and place the matting over the top, embedding matting. Now, apply more Resin over the top & roll over until a swirly pattern forms. Repeat the proccess, overlapping the next square metre of matting with a minimum 50mm overlap & repeat the process. Wait 40 – 60 minutes for curing.
Step 14: Apply a second coat of Resin, painting the resin over every element of the newly fabricated flat roof. Wait 40 – 60 minutes for curing.
