Flat Roof Sun Tunnel

Flat Roof Sun Tunnel

VELUX Flat Roof Sun Tunnels provide an innovative solution when the installation of an ordinary VELUX roof window is not an option.

Sun tunnels draw light into a building into corridors, bathrooms, cupboards and stairwells.

With a sun tunnel you get to enjoy natural light in areas where you thought it was impossible to have a window, and provide a changing light that ceiling lights and lamps can’t scratch. These sun tunnels can be fitted just about anywhere where there is 6m or less between the roof and your room. That means it can be installed to fit almost any room - kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, it really is a flexible choice!

VELUX is at the forefront of making their products affordable and easy to install at home. Their brand new sun tunnels come in both flex and rigid version, and the installation time for the sun tube itself has been cut in half due to recent innovations in the system.

At JJ Roofing Supplies we offer excellent and competitive prices, fast UK delivery, and all the guidance you need to professionally install a VELUX sun tunnel. Remember, we’re all roofers too - if you have any questions while you are ordering a product from our site, ask away.

The Two Types of VELUX Sun Tunnel
The Roof Flex Tunnel is easy to install, recommended for tunnels of shorter length, between 0.2m and 0.9m. This flexible material is around a meter long, very reflective to guarantee more sunlight in your home, and a small-ish diameter of 35cm. It’s fitted with an insulated polycarbonate frame and its exterior roof dome is fitted with PVC - easy to maintain and cost-effective.

Alternatively, you could use the Rigid Roof Sun Tunnel from VELUX. This is ideal for longer sun tunnels for distances from 0.8m all the way up to 6m. It comes with 2 x 45 degree bend pieces but can be stacked together to fit around your building’s design. Inside is a super-reflective material that provides a crazy 98% reflection rate, which means even after 6m there is still plenty of light coming into your home. Just like the Flex Tunnel, the exterior dome is PVC and acrylic, and the interior has an insulated polycarbonate finish.

Benefits of a VELUX Sun Tunnel

One of the main benefits of choosing VELUX is the lengths at which the brand has gone to make the tunnels easy to install. Its new Flexi-Loc system means you can literally clip pieces of the tunnel together - it’s lightweight, flexible and very easy to work with.

When installing a VELUX Sun Tunnel you don’t need to access the roof or loft space - you can actually install it from the outside, all you need to do is drop the lightweight tunnel into an allocated space. Then clip it on from the inside. It’s that simple.

Lastly, the materials have been chosen for their durability and easy maintenance. You can unscrew parts of the flexible tunnel simply to clean them.
