Vapour Control Layer
Vapour control layers or VCLs are designed to prevent moisture from forming in the building. Without a vapour control layer, moisture will form and lead to issues such as condensation, mould growth, and damage to building materials.
A vapour control layer is typically installed on the warm side of the insulation, and its primary function is to limit the amount of water vapour that can pass through it. VCLs are usually made from low-vapour permeability materials, such as polyethene.
