Description

Flexitec SP Primer is a specialist primer designed for use on synthetic single‑ply membranes such as FPO (flexible polyolefin), TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin), EPDM and PVC. These membranes are notoriously difficult to bond to, so the primer acts as a bridge between the membrane and the Flexitec resin system. The product is a single‑component, solvent‑free polyurethane and is supplied in a 0.8 kg metal bottle.

Key Features

  • One‑component – no mixing or catalysing required
  • Low consumption rate (0.03–0.05 kg/m²) giving excellent coverage.
  • Suitable for EPDM, TPO, FPO and PVC single‑ply membranes.
  • Solvent‑free and virtually odourless
  • Drying time 1–6 hours depending on temperature.

Application

  1. Ensure the single‑ply membrane is clean, dry and free from grease. Use Res‑Tec Cleaning Agent and a lint‑free cloth.
  2. Shake or stir the primer thoroughly before use:
  3. Brush apply a thin coat to the membrane. Avoid excess build‑up, particularly in corners.
  4. Allow to dry. At 20 °C the primer dries in 1.5–3 hours; at lower temperatures it may take up to 6 hours. Do not over‑coat until the primer is dry.
  5. Apply the Flexitec 2020 system within the same day. If the primed surface becomes contaminated, reapply primer.
