How To Prevent Damage, Roof Maintenance

Do you fret about damaging your roof due to bad weather conditions? Are you looking for a permanent solution to fix the issue pertaining to your roof? If yes, then look no further. The tips mentioned below will help you prevent damage to your roof.

It is important to ensure that you carry out regular maintenance of your roof. Check for loose shingles and avoid water from melting ice which can seep into the house through the roof.

Shingles

Shingles are mainly used for protection against the wind and rain. They are more prone to damage and they generally become loose due to the weather. The only solution to wobbly shingles is to replace them regularly. The replacement of shingles from time to time will help in providing effective protection against the weather.

Formation of ice dams

Ice dams are a very common problem during the winter. They should not be allowed to accumulate on the roof especially on the edges. Some of them are very sharp and can be harmful to humans and pets. In order to avoid ice dams, heat cables are now available in the market. The heat cables prevent the accumulation of ice and help in evaporating any water that could potentially turn into ice.

Roofing felt

A layer of roofing felt is very useful to avoid allowing moisture to enter into the house. This may be possible due to the ice present outside and this can be prevented by applying a layer of roofing felt.
