Protecto-mat Rubber Crumb Protection Membrane-3mm

WALLBARN RUBBER CRUMB PROTECTO-MAT is a flexible and easy-to-install protection membrane for use on a large variety of surfaces, applications and membranes. It is durable and tough and has a density of 950 kg/m3.

It protects the waterproofing membrane both during the construction process from damage caused by abrasion, point loading, blunt materials, backfilling and concrete casting; and can also form part of a long-term after completion as a permanent protection, thus ensuring and extending the lifespan of the membrane.

It is easy to install and can be used on membranes where bituminous protection boards are not compatible, such as Polyurethane or PVC single ply membranes.

It is ideal for horizontal and vertical surface protection for applications such as podium decks, green roofs, regularly trafficked roofs, inverted roofs, parking areas, walkways, on maintenance areas; in underground waterproofing such foundation walls, basements, drains, tunnels, and ditches.

It is manufactured in a non-rigid roll format from rubber crumb, sourced from recycled tyres. This makes it one of the greenest and sustainable protection membranes on the market. The rubber crumb particles are bound together with a mixture of polyurethane resins to form a strong membrane which will not delaminate when exposed to the elements. It is lightweight and non-toxic to handle, making it a much better prospect for site handling than other protection boards.

It is strong enough to tolerate concrete pour and the application of hot materials straight onto its surface.

It is important to ensure that each roll is fitted securely to the next roll. The preferred method is to overlap the rolls by at least 8cm. Applicators can butt each roll up to the next and either heat bond them together or use a strong, approved and compatible adhesive to prevent gaps between each roll emerging.

Bonding the Protecto-mat to the deck can be achieved through a variety of means AND IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT APPLICATORS SEEK THE ADVICE OF THE MANUFACTURER OF THE WATERPROOFING MEMBRANE ON THE BEST WAY TO BOND THE PROTECTION.

For example, with bituminous membranes the matting can be torch bonded to the waterproofing using a flame gun and a roller. Soften the bituminous membrane (not the rubber crumb mat) slightly with the flame and press the rubber crumb mat into it.

Applicators should seek the advice of the waterproofing manufacturer for the best way to install this protection matting with their membranes.

Wallbarn Protecto-mat can be used on both horizontal and vertical surfaces effectively.

Apply Wallbarn Rubber Crumb Protecto-Mat onto the vertical surface with a strong, compatible adhesive, or, in the case of bituminous membranes, torch the surface beneath. Start from the top of the vertical surface and work downwards.

Press it into the membrane firmly so that it adheres properly. Butt each roll to the previous one, so that there are no gaps between the panels. A slight overlap can be made (max 1 cm.)

Wallbarn Protecto-mat can be easily cut using a sharp knife and shaped around particular corners and details. This is very useful for protecting membranes around things such as curved surfaces, drainage outlets, rooflights and upstands.

This membrane is completely rot-proof. It can be immersed in water without risk of delaminating or compromising its performance.
