Lead flashing has been a favoured roofing material for over a century now, and is popular with roofers and homeowners alike thanks to its many benefits.
Whereas alternative roofing materials will typically last about twenty years or more, lead can withstand the harshest of elements for anywhere between 60 to 500 years, so it’s almost certain to last you a lifetime.
Environmentally sound, the existing lead recycling infrastructure means that almost 100% of lead waste can be recycled at a low cost, giving it an incredibly low carbon footprint.
Its versatile nature means that the material can be used for building a gulley or valley, or for step flashing against brickwork to keep a watertight seal. It’s also often used for soldering, gutter lining and sealing gaps, or for forming a watertight joint.
Sold in the form of lead rolls, this heavy, malleable and soft metal is white in appearance when freshly cut, before turning a dull grey once oxidised.
Lead flashing can still be installed in cold and wet weather conditions, reducing potential delays in completing your project.
