GRP Roofing Trims

GRP Roofing Trims

GRP or Fibreglass Flat Roof edge trims are a lightweight and durable finishing touch to your flat roof project.

Designed to create a seamless merge between your roof felt or shingles and the edge of the roof, they do more than offer an aesthetically-appealing trim. They’re designed to protect the vulnerable edges of your felt or shingle roofing from the elements.

GRP is ‘Glass Reinforced Plastic’, a hardy material made of polyester resin and cut with glass fibres to form a durable laminate appearance. It’s extremely strong and very light, making it easy to use, cost-effective to install, and performs well when exposed to the weather.

Fibreglass roof material is also very popular because it’s cheap and strong. There’s no better finish for a GRP roof than to have matching edge trims. Here at JJ Roofing Supplies we offer a range of different edge trims from leading GRP manufacturers here in the UK. Everything is competitively priced and available with a fast 2-3 day delivery across the country.

Different Types of GRP Roof Trims

As standard there are two pieces of roof trim you’ll need to order - the trim itself, which goes along the base of the roof, and the corner trim, which locks in each corner. Though the typical shape is angular, there are raised edge trims and drip trims that are useful in certain situations.

Drip Roofing Trims are ideal to help with drainage into the gutter, often fixed at the very base of the roof. Raised Edge trims, on the other hand, are designed to keep water on top of the roof - but not for very long. These roof trims are used to direct the water to a drop or outlet on the top of your flat roof.

These fibreglass roof trims are usually grey or black, according to personal preference, but there are more aesthetically-pleasing Simulated Lead Flashing trims if you want to have a more traditional finish to your rooftop.

At JJ Roofing Supplies we stock both types of GRP roof trims and the fibreglass that’s made to look like lead. Everything is available for a great price, and if you have any questions about the style, how much you need to order, and how to install the roof trims, please contact us - we’re happy to help out!

Importance of Roof Trims

Flat roofs are susceptible to damage year-round: whether it’s the soggy cold winter months or the blistering-hot week of sun in August, whatever the material is on your roof it’s likely to fare poorly. There are a few things you can do to make sure your roof stays healthy for longer, which includes fitting GRP roof trims around the corners of your roof.

The tight professional finish of a roof trim makes sure that water is being diverted off of your roof into a drain or outlet while protecting the exposed edges of a felt, shingles or other roof material finish.
