Roofing supplies help protect your roofing from inclement weather

Snow build-up, loose shingles and accumulation of bacteria cause the roof tiles to loosen and get damaged. These problems can be prevented by carrying out regular maintenance works and keeping the gutters free of debris before and after the rainy season. Check your roof periodically for damage or loose tiles to avoid the water from melting ice seeping in the house and damage your walls.

Mentioned below are some of the problems faced by home owners and ways to tackle them.

Loose or damaged tiles

Rain and the harsh winters often cause roof tiles to become loose or damaged. Roof tiles act as the first line of defence against inclement weather and hence are more prone to damage. Shingles need to be replaced every 5-6 years to ensure proper protection to your interiors.

Roofing cement, sealants and caulk guns are some items that can be used to fix and seal new tiles. It is prudent to seek expert help if you find it difficult to fix a new tile. Doing the work incorrectly can potentially damage the other tiles and increase the cost incurred by you.

Ice dams

Ice dams are very common and hazardous as well. They need to be removed before they form on the edge of your roof. These ice dams can form sharp edges that can be harmful for pets and children.

Ice dams are difficult to get rid of; however with the introduction of heat cables and tapes, it is possible to avoid their formation in the first place. Heat cables produce enough heat that can evaporate the ice before it starts freezing.
