Quick roof checks

Springtime is always a good time of year to give your roof a once-over to check for potential problems. The integrity of your roof is essential. Without a quality functioning roof in place your home will be susceptible to leaks, drips and damp which cause you a huge amount of problems. A few things that are easy to check include.

Look at the tiles

From the ground it should be easy to see if any tiles have slipped or any tiles are missing. Slipped tiles or missing tiles need attending to straight away before a leak causes havoc inside the home.

Check the ridge tiles

Give the ridge tiles a once over to check they are ok. You can simply look at these from the ground using binoculars to gauge their general condition. Check the mortar that is holding them in place is ok and is not crumbling

Look at the chimney

Check chimney pots are in place and the flashing around the chimney is secure. If the concrete holding the pots in place has deteriorated, this will need to be replaced

Check gutters

Check all gutters are functioning correctly and there are no drips or leaks. Also remove leaf debris from gutters as this can cause damp problems if the gutter overflows.
