Loft windows are an essential part of your roofing supplies

A loft conversion is not complete without a suitable loft window. Loft windows are the quintessential part of a home which uses the uppermost room as a habitable space.

With the economy still struggling to recover after the downturn it has seen recently, a great way to add value to your home is to make the most of all the space available. In fact, many homeowners are using their lofts as extra rooms, as the cost to move home to have more space is too prohibitive.

Loft rooms can be used as studies, play rooms or are more commonly as an extra bedroom. If the loft space is large enough, many homeowners actually incorporate an en-suite bathroom into the loft as well, further opening the possibilities of how to use the space.

The choice of loft windows you have is amazing; windows are available that open from the top or from the centre and windows that actually open outwards in a vertical axis from one edge, which can be used as part of a balcony arrangement.

As well as using larger windows to let in more light, there are a number of combination flashing kits which can be used to mount multiple windows together in a wonderful expanse of light.

If you want a wide view out of your window, the double and triple flashing kits mount two or three windows side by side, a tall view can be achieved with a Duo flashing kit and a combination of the two with the Quatro flashing kit.  I like the Quatro flashing in particular and it can be mounted in close proximity to the Velux Terrace system to turn almost the entire roof into a wonderful area of light with a simple outside terrace too.

When you order roofing supplies, make sure you investigate the type of roof window you need to add to the roof to get the most from the space you have.
